Sound Familiar?
Tightness at the base of your skull after a long screen day. Not being able to turn fully to check your blind spot. Headaches that build as the day goes on. Shoulders that live up by your ears.
Your sleep setup, desk, phone habits, stress and workouts can all play a part. Usually it's a mix.
How I Look at Your Neck
I start by asking about your symptoms and how your headaches behave. Then I check how your neck and upper back move and run tests chosen for what you're feeling.
Headaches have a lot of possible causes. If anything points to something that needs medical attention, I'll refer you.
You Don't Have to Get Your Neck Cracked
A lot of people tell me they're nervous about neck adjustments, and that's completely okay. I use the Activator, a small handheld instrument, along with Graston soft-tissue work, Hypervolt percussion therapy, kinesiology taping and simple posture and mobility exercises.
You decide what you're comfortable with. I wrote more about this in Chiropractic Without Neck Manipulation.
When to Skip My Office and Get Urgent Care
Go to the emergency room for a sudden, severe headache unlike any you've had, a headache with fever and a stiff neck, confusion, weakness, trouble speaking, vision changes, or neck pain after a significant injury.
